the three ways
you could build it yourself.
here’s what that actually costs.
there are three ways to get a website for a local business. none of them is wrong. they just cost you different things. here’s the honest version of each.
01 / do it yourself
why not just use a website builder?
you can. wix, squarespace, godaddy all work, and plenty of businesses run on them. if you’ve got one you like, keep it.
the cost was never the monthly fee. it’s you. picking the template, fighting the layout on your phone, swapping the hours, fixing the contact form at 11pm. it’s never finished, because a site you build yourself is a site you maintain yourself, forever.
- what it costs you
- your time
- every week, forever
02 / hire someone
why not hire a freelancer?
a good freelancer or local agency can do real work. the trade is money up front, plus the job of managing them: the brief, the photos, the rounds of feedback.
and when it’s done, they move on. six months later you need a price changed or a new photo up, and you’re chasing a reply, or paying a minimum to get on their calendar. the gap after launch is yours to fill.
- what it costs you
- a few thousand, then hourly
- plus the gap after they leave
03 / sitehey
so where does sitehey fit?
we take both off your plate. flat $1,200 to set up, $149 a month after. we draft your site, you look it over with us, you’re live in a day.
the $149 is the part the other two leave to you: new photos, changed hours, a price swap. you text us, a real person handles it, usually same day. it’s month-to-month, and the site is yours. ask for the files whenever you want them.
- what it costs you
- $1,200 once, then $149/mo
- yours to keep, nothing to manage
not for you
we’re not for everyone.
if you like building your own site and it’s working, keep it. you’re getting the thing we charge to remove, for free.
if you need an online store with hundreds of products, complex bookings, or a membership system, we’re not the right tool, and we’ll tell you. if $149 a month doesn’t pencil out right now, that’s a fair read. no worries either way.
do it yourself, it costs your time. hire someone, it costs money plus the gap after. with us it’s a flat price and nothing to manage. if that’s the trade you want, it’s a fifteen-minute call.
